Join us for our next Bayou Writers’ Group meeting on Saturday, June 20 from 11 AM–1 PM at The Charmed Page Bookstore.

Bayou Writers’ Group meets regularly on the second Saturday of every month at The Charmed Page, giving writers in Southwest Louisiana a welcoming space to connect, talk craft, ask questions, and share experiences with others who understand the writing process.

This meeting is open to preteens and up, so younger writers, teen writers, adult writers, new writers, experienced authors, and anyone curious about storytelling are welcome to attend. Whether you’re working on your first story, outlining a novel, revising a manuscript, publishing your work, or simply trying to figure out where to start, this is a space for you.

This month’s meeting will be a relaxed time to chat with other writers, talk about where you are in your writing journey, ask questions, and learn from people who have been through different parts of the writing, revising, publishing, and creative process.

We’ll also be focusing part of our discussion on writing diverse characters and writing more diversely within your manuscript. We’ll talk about approaching characters with care, avoiding stereotypes, building authentic perspectives, and thinking intentionally about the worlds and people we create on the page.

Coffee is always provided. Feel free to bring snacks to share with the group.
